So I haven’t posted for a while, and honestly politics are depressing. But I’m leaving to the army soon and my routine has me quite bored, and I just read an article and I wanted to write about it.
Pres. Obama visited the Prime Minister of England and, as is custom, they exchanged gifts. Prime Minister [...]

“However long we are keepers of the public trust we should never forget that we are here as public servants and public service is a privilege. It’s not about advantaging yourself. It’s not about advancing your friends or your corporate clients. It’s not about advancing an ideological agenda or the special interests of any organization. [...]

“Everybody wants this president to succeed. It’s not in the interests of Americans or of the United States for this presidency to be a failure.”
-Mark Steyn on his website, after reflecting on the long road Obama took to get here. No one likes a sore loser, so I’ll follow his example. Congratulations and good luck! [...]

Today, after being sworn into office, PRESIDENT Obama sat to do the traditional signing. The papers he’s signing are pretty much making the choices for his cabinet official. Hillary Clinton’s position was not signed yet. It has been postponed by Texas Senator John Cornyn. It will not happen today.
She’ll most likely get in there, although [...]

Oh so here we come on inauguration day. A day I was hoping would never come. It’s not that I don’t want change, because God knows I do, but a day that I fear is going to lead to a worship of an unworthy hero. I know I’m Cuban and we hold on very [...]

Obama’s camp reached out this week to all his supporters. I’m sure if you’re signed up to receive their email, you got this simple request for money. Anything you can give and they sweeten the pot by letting you know that five donors will receive a trip to his inauguration. That’s right, your simple donation [...]

– Comedian Christian Finnegan on the Keith Olbermann show making fun of Sarah Palin’s wacky family tree. It’s just too easy.

W. Mark Felt died today at the age of 95.
Felt revealed himself as the man behind the pseudo-name “Deep Throat” in 2005, ending one of the greatest mysteries in American politics.
According to the New York Times:
«Without Mr. Felt, there might not have been a Watergate — shorthand for the revealed abuses of presidential powers in [...]

“The Caroline Kennedy buzz is only the latest — if most overt — example of this (rampant nepotism). Here is a person with no government experience whatsoever, a person whose major claim to fame is her last name. And she’s in a state teeming with possible candidates who exhibit a wealth of experience and political [...]

A parent tried to ban the carol “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer” from the Christmas show at an elementary school in a Wilmington, North Carolina.
«“I don’t mind Christmas or anything Christmas-related at all, so long as you’re not imposing it on my child,” the objecting parent said Friday morning.»
Obviously, the words “Santa” and “Christmas” are [...]
