The United States government (also known as Halliburton) has just opened it’s new embassy in Iraq. This latest monument to despotism is the largest of all the embassies in the world.
How much did it cost us? A mere $592 million dollars.

“The Caroline Kennedy buzz is only the latest — if most overt — example of this (rampant nepotism). Here is a person with no government experience whatsoever, a person whose major claim to fame is her last name. And she’s in a state teeming with possible candidates who exhibit a wealth of experience and political [...]

Since Hillary Clinton is vacating her throne to rule the world from Washington D.C., Caroline Kennedy has publicly admitted her desire to be the junior senator from New York.
The former first daughter is going to ask Governor Paterson to think of her to replace Hillz.

“He’d rather pay a prostitute than pay auto workers.”
– Morgan Johnson, an auto union rep in Louisiana said of his (dis)honorable Senator David “I love fucking hookers” Vitter. I don’t support the bailout, but this is a good diss and deserves praise. I don’t want my tax dollars paying for Vitter’s “expenses” either.

I am in 100% agreement with this elvish little representative on why the Wall Street bail out is bull.
The bail out is a short term fix that will burden average Americans so the rich can continue to invest on themselves and not America. I’m not for giving my tax money to [...]

“In my many years I have come to a conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm, and three or more is a congress.”
— John Adams, one of our forefathers who worked in the Congress once upon a time. You know, when our nation still practiced what it preached.

“It is easy to vote on something that sounds good. It is hard to stand against it and say there is a bigger principle.”
– Senator Tim Coburn (R-OK) in a New York Times article that describes him as a one person filibuster. The democrats are frustrated and trying to take away his influence, but he [...]

Not everybody liked republican senator Jesse Helms. All I really knew about him was that he’d spearheaded a law that clamped down on Fidel Castro’s regime (La ley Helms-Burton in spanish). Apparently, his influence has spanned over 50 years and has shaped the conservative side of politics in ways akin to Reagan.
There’s a really good [...]

Senators David Vitter and Larry Craig… a study in hypocrisy.
More information, as well as link to the bill HERE.
I just can’t believe these two men would think they have any moral high ground on this subject.

I am ecstatic to hear that Congress did the right thing and passed the 21st Century GI Bill. The bill, which is bipartisan, offers up more benefits to our troops especially when it comes to college tuition.
«The bill, given final approval Thursday in the Senate, also provides veterans a free college education and extends expiring [...]

Notoriously conservative Senator Joe Lieberman used to be a democrat. Now he’s an “independent” but still caucuses with the Democrats. Well, liberals are getting sick of his treacherous ways (he’s McCain’s new snuggle buddy) and want him ousted from their party.
I’m from Florida so my vote doesn’t count, but this guy’s [...]

After months of fighting between The House of Representatives and the White House, a compromise on the FISA Bill Amendment has been reached. According to the AP, the White House managed to get protection for the telecom companies that wiretapped Americans and Congress was able to make some privisions to protect our privacy.
Live Blogging: Nancy Pelosi’s Speech

Nancy Pelosi opens up the Democratic convention in a weird looking suit. What gives, Nance? She looks like a fencer. Anyway, my liveblogging of the speech after the jump.
