The Political Fancier blog began as a catharsis for its creator, who goes by the pen name BookGrl. Tired of venting to friends and family about her many opinions on politics, life, and humanity, she decided to start the site in March 2008.
Originally called “Fancy Meeting You Here,” it only had had 5 views in its first week.
After a few months, readers started leaving comments and feedback. Sometimes they were positive, sometimes they were negative. Either way, readers started giving a damn.
That pleased BookGrl very much.
Soon, she decided to expand the site. She realized she couldn’t do it all on her own. Luckily, one of her best friends (who goes by the pen name Liberty53000) was as interested in blogging on a political site around the same time.
BookGrl and Liberty joined their intellects and are now a team.
Politics is the main focus of both bloggers, but they also cover other topics that “tickle their fancy.”
What is a “Political Fancier”?
The eternal creed of a Political Fancier is “Wit Above All.”
The classic pin up has been adopted as a symbol because of her glamor, sex appeal, and elegance.
To be a “Political Fancier” one must have an enthusiastic interest in politics and a desire to become a connoisseur on the subject. Political Fanciers have open minds, discriminating eyes, and enormous sense of humors.
Politics should be fun and the main purpose of the site is to encourage this perspective in more people, especially Americans.
Both BookGrl and Liberty are college students in Florida. They hope to pursue careers in writing: BookGrl is interested in journalism and Liberty hopes to write romance novels.
The Political Fancier is definitely a labor of love for both women and they hope to continue to watch it grow.
