Worthy Quote II: Random Commentor

Posted by: BookGirl on: September 5, 2008

“Jesus was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor.”

– A commentor on the blog Mudflapper, hat tip to the website 23/6.  This is probably in response to Sarah Palin’s condescending comments toward Obama’s orgins as a community organizer.  For those of you that don’t know, Jesus was brought before Pontius Pilate, the roman appointed governor to the region, and Pilate did not grant him a reprieve from his crucifixion.  Instead, Pilate symbolically “washed his hands” of the situation and left him to the angry mob.

Keep it up. Keep assaulting every facet of her character.

It is already helping to defeat the Socialist candidate Obama.

Suppose:

Will do. And the “socialist” is ahead in the polls.

To paraphrase Senator Lloyd Bentson, “Barack Obama, you’re no Jesus!”

That’s good, BookGirl! 23/6 has some funny stuff.

He may be ahead in the polls but he is still a Socialist.

Obama is not Jesus. (remember it’s out of his pay grade) Jesus was not a community organizer. He is Lord (governor). He is my Governor, my savior, the one that governs my life day in and out. Jesus had others that organized the little things for him.

Obama is condescending

Everyone must read this article. McCain needs to explain this.

He’s no Jesus, but he ain’t no Satan either.

Suppose:

Throwing terms like that around isn’t going to change the fact that America is sick of whatever brand of “Democracy” George Bush and John McCain offer.

I don’t live in friggin’ Joe McCarthy era America here, I’m over the labels.

jmcfad22:

I have that article linked in another one of my posts. It’s a bit tabloid-ish, but I think it’s worth looking into.

Thanks!

Ben:

Glad you liked it! It makes ya think.

Marshall:

I’m not saying Obama is Jesus. To me the quote means: rethink your prejudices. Jesus was not a political figure, he did not walk around promoting gun rights and phone tapping. Jesus tried to help the community by benevolent action not by politics and I highly doubt he would be endorsing ANY of the campaign messages like people like to claim he is, democrat or republican.

I would prefer we debate on issues, Bookgirl I need you to read this detailed printed Background check , it details all the facts you need.
You are have great wisdom and a great writer. The detailed report will help you answer some of the questions from your readers.

2006 Democratic Research Document on Sarah Palin

If U do not a link go to my blog, scroll down . I have been following the Investigation news in Alaska. I got it that from Digg it.

Let’s agree to agree — Jesus was not a community organizer. Now that that bit of fluff is out of the way, let’s see if all the good Christian folk on this board are willing to do what Jesus would do — admonish Sarah Palin for callously mocking those who live the life Christ called us to by being our brothers’ keepers.

According to Palin, martyred missionary Jim Elliot (did you see “The End of the Spear”?), who was a legendary scholar/athlete at Wheaton College and could have written his ticket in life, chose instead to head across the world to fulfill the great commission. He went to an isolated area of the world to share the gospel of Christ and was rewarded for his selflessness by being slughtered by the very tribesmen whose souls he was trying to save from eternal damnation.

I’m sure that if Palin met Elliot’s widow Elizabeth, she would chuckle and tell her, “your husband was such a pathetic LOOOOOOOZER. You know, like that Obama guy who actually was dumb enough to forego a lucrative career to work with poor people. I mean really, Liz. Your hubby should have taken a lesson from my ‘first dude’ and gone snowmobiling instead of playing missionary games.”

Palin’s insensitivity to those who serve Christ in the mission field — be it on a remote island like Elliot or the inner city like Obama — does not disqualify her to serve as Vice President. Rather, it disqualifies her to name the most holy Name of Jesus ad her Lord and Savior.

“He did not walk around promoting gun rights and phone tapping.”
First of all there were no phones or guns when Jesus walked around, and he also would not have walked around dictating political philosophies and setting class against class as your man does in his Marxist/Leninist way. Jesus said, “Render that which is Caesar’s and that which is God’s.”

Hmm…think they knew this?

“Sarah Palin’s church is promoting a conference that promises to convert gays into hetrosexuals throught the power of prayer.”
“You’ll be encouraged by the power of God’s love and His desire to transform the lives of those impacted by homosexuality”
This is all according to the insert in teh bulletin of the Wasilla Bible Church, where Palin has prayed for six years.
I believe further scrutiny should be applied to Palin and her church – you know, just as it was for Obama. After all, if you apply the republicans Obama/Wright rule to Palin and her church, she agree’s with EVERYTHING that her pastor says. No wonder she’s hiding from the media.

Suppose:

I’m afraid you took that too literally… Of course I know there weren’t friggin phones in Jesus’ day. C’mon, that’s just petty.

You and I won’t see eye to eye on this one because you are not thinking abstractly and I am. Gonna have to leave it alone. Have a nice day though, and thanks for offering a different view.

Notfooled – Maybe I’m wrong, but, I have a funny feeling that there are very few undecided voters who that issue is going to be a deal breaker for.

You would be hard-pressed to find a large “Gays for McCain” group, I would bet.

Obama’s pastor bashed whites and bashed America. I think there may be a few more people who were offended by that!

Nonetheless, the liberal mainstream media may very well try to stir things up with this but they’ll be preaching to the choir (no pun intended).

hahaha to all the comments. Maybe I shouldn’t laugh, but it’s funny how one little quote brings such harsh emotions. Especially since I chuckled a little when I first read the quote (without reading the comments). I guess words really are powerful. Keep up the humor Bookgrl, it gets me through my day. :)

I’m glad I posted it.. it seems to have struck a nerve. Thank you soooo much for your support.

Bilia:

Thank you for always being a loyal reader. I will definitely check out your links. :)

Where does Hillary fit into this little biblical scenario? Judas? I wonder, will Joe Biden deny Obama three times before the election? No matter, for who so winnith this election will be put to the cross. I guess we’ll have to revisit the question at that time. Go in peace.
