Sarah Palin told American she put the governor’s private jet for sale on ebay in her speech at the RNC which, I believe made people infer it also sold on the site. That got a lot of attention and helped with her continue to establish her “maverick” record.
According to a fact checker site called Politifact, she stretched the truth a bit. The jet was posted on ebay but did not sell. It was actually sold by a brokering company offline and bought by a businessman for $2.1 million. The purchase price was a netloss for the state which had purchased the jet for $2.7 million in 2005.
And the idea to sell on ebay in the first place wasn’t exactly her personal innovation. According to the site, Alaska has sold another smaller plane that way before.
Because of a technicality (she never said it SOLD on the site) she can keep saying this, but she needs to be knocked down a peg or two.

Jay,
Before you mention Rev Wright, check out Palin’s pastor and the members, who believes, Isreal attacks by palestianian is a judgement on isreal from God , because they do not believe in Jesus, and that Iraq war is a war to fullfill Gods’s will.
So what do you think American Jews will make out of that?
You can hide Palin’s Character or you want, the truth will come out oneday.
Here’s something that’s hardly POINTLESS. In fact, it’s outright theivery. Palin pushed for the “Bridge to Nowhere” along with that bastion of fiscal integrity Ted “help me, I’m under indictment and I can’t get up” Stevens. Then, when it became pollitically expedient and the bridge became an embarrassmnet, she flipped 180 degress and opposed said bridge.
Here’s the kicker — she NEVER GAVE BACK EEVEN A PENNY OF THE $233 MILLION OF TAXPAEYER MONEY DOLED OUT FOR THE BRIDGE. In fact, she pocketed hard earned taxpayer dollars (some of which I worked for) and used it for OTHER purposes. An earmark is called an earmark because it is dedicated to a specific project. When the bridge was scuttled, she was morally obligated to immediately send a check in the amount of $233 million back to DC. But why would she? After all, Palin herself is the north country’s resident queen of earmarks, having been cited by no less than Maverick McCain himself on several occassions for shamelessly bellyingup to the pork barrel.
Maybe I’m old fashioned, but when somebody obtains my $$$ under a pretense that ends up being false (i.e. the Bridge to Nowhere), then refuses to return said $$$, I call that theft. And as we all know, God’s commandments state “THOU SHALT NOT STEAL”. So if you ever run into Sarah “sticky fingers” Palin, tell her I have an IOU in the amount of $233 million I want paid back ASAP.
Funny how when I was listening to her speech I questioned the ebay sale. To me putting the governor’s jet on ebay, or craigslist for that matter, is purely a pr ploy. How many planes do you think are really sold on ebay? They have people who could find a buyer other ways. I think she threw it out in the speech to prove her youth (in contrast to McCain’s old behind). We get it, you’re cool Palin. We all want to be just like you.
The left just doesn’t get it. Ok, lets try some more fact checking. Putting the jet on ebay was a way of determining the baseline value of the asset. Ok, it did sell on ebay, and maybe Palin should have just taken the first offer any aviation broker gave. Then again, maybe it was just part of whole picture. The jet was sold at above market value at the time, and that is why some have charaterized the sale as making a profit. Much like selling a used car, you would not expect to get more than you paid for it, hoping instead to just get a little more more than market value. Profit? No. Good decision? Absolutely.
Correction on my previous post — I meant to say the jet did NOT sell on ebay….my sincere apology.

Is that the best you got? She’s untrustworthy because she didn’t attached a footnote with full disclosure on all the details surrounding the sale of state property? This was a speech for crying out loud!!!
I think you have way too much time on your hands…
Maybe for fair and balance blogging you should play a clip of Obama’s long-time friend and former pastor saying “God Damn America!” every time Obama talks about how he is the personification of the American dream.
Who’s REALLY trustworthy?
