Gambian President Declares War On Gays

Back in May Gambia’s closeted gay President Yahya Jammeh vowed to “cut off the head” of any homosexual in the country. This is an open call for genocide.

The website Afrik.com reports:

«He said the Gambia was a country of believers, indicating that no sinful and immoral act as homosexuality would be tolerated in the country.

He warned all homosexuals in the country to leave, noting that a legislation “stricter than those in Iran ” concerning the vice would be introduced soon.»

I was trying to find another mainstream media report (Reuters, AP, etc..) but I couldn’t find one. If you do, forward it to me. Sometimes I fear the blogsphere is the only source of these human rights stories. Another blog reports it HERE.

These African leaders literally think they can get away with murder. In Namibia homophobia is sanctioned by the government as well though not as blatantly as this. What makes it worse it that some government officials are themselves gay.

That’s a very scary truth. There is a strong need for people to stand up to human rights violators like them, but I understand that’s often easier said than done.

I know what you mean about some of the government officials being gay themselves. Many times in American politics, the most conservative guy in the room is the one having an affair with a man. Ex-Governor McGreevey and current Senator Larry Craig are perfect examples. Sometimes, it’s easier for them to hide their true identities than face persecution, even if that means persecuting others to protect themselves.

HEY GUYS, DO NOT WORRY ABOUT WHAT THIS FOOL SAYS, HE IS THE MOST IGNORANT PRESIDENT THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN, HE THINKS THAT HE COULD CONTROL THE PEOPLE OF THE GAMBIAN, WHICH I WOULD SADLY SAY THAT IS WHAT IS HAPPENNING RIGHT NOW. HOWEVER, IGNORANT IT SELF IS THE WORST THINK THAT COULD HAPPEN TO ANYONE, EXPECIALLY TO THE PRESIDENT OF AN ENTIRE NATION. THE PROBLEM WITH THESE AFRICAN LEADERS IS THAT THEY ARE JUST GREED, AND USES THEIR PEOPLE LACK OF EDUCATION AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE REALITIES OF LIFE TO EMPOWER THEMSELVES. HOW CAN A NATION HAVE MINISTERS THAT WOULD LAST FOREVER, WHERE IS THE PROGRESS, FRESH MINDS AND FRESH IDEAS. SO IF ANYONE WANTS TO WASTE THEIR TIME TALKING ABOUT THIS GUY I WILL SAY DON’T WASTE YOUR BREATH.
