John McCain’s newest ad is a one minute biography on his life. It leaves out all the good stuff, like when he cheated on his first wife or how he partied his way through military school.
Basically it makes the argument that McCain is the best person to lead this nation because he’s witnessed every war since those terrorists threw the tea into Boston harbor.

Carey:
I hope it is laughable. I was being sarcastic… but honestly, our forefathers were considered terrorists to the British government. We know how the story turned out, so we are thankful for their efforts, but had they lost and we were still a British nation, they’d be depicted much differently than they are now.
Terrorist does not just equal a Muslim man with bombs. The way the term is manipulated by governments anyone who falls out of favor with them can be a terrorist.
Thanks.

Interesting blog!
From across the pond, I’ve been trying to work out just why America is so independent minded. I put this in my blog “Happy Independence Day, USA!” and I’ve already had some interesting comments.
I wonder what you think?

I sure do love that his campaign can be quoted as stating:
“Don’t hope for a better life…”

bookgirl,
Glad to know about the sarcasm, it was difficult to tell.
Regarding the use of the word “terrorist” – yes, governments/politicians/news media (anyone for that matter, I guess) can twist almost any word to vilify someone they don’t care for. But the ones we typically hear about (Al Quaida, Hamas, Hezbolla, etc.) I would think accurately portray what the word means…
And regarding the American Revolutionaries – yes, the victors in a given conflict typically get to write the history about it – thus their side is naturally “in the right.” But objectively, factually, the revolution in America was about freedom for the common person and was very slow in coming. Individuals like Ben Franklin were loyal to the crown until the very last when they saw no other way to right legitimate wrongs that they were experiencing.
Anyway, thanks for the dialogue.

Like noses, everyone has an opinion… and yours is funny to me – likening those involved in the “Boston Tea Party” with terrorists. There’s a WORLD of difference – to confuse the two is laughable…
