A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Posts

Posted by: BookGirl on: June 30, 2008

–Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad and his wife… the picture just says it all. She looks like Casper’s black cousin.  There is no way I would ever hide myself because I have a vagina. That’s just wrong.

VoteVets.org Creates a Petition to Back Clark

Posted by: BookGirl on: June 30, 2008

General Wesley Clark has taken the step at being the first person to criticize Senator John McCain’s military service.

He’s gotten some flack for it, but the people over at Votevets.org have created a petition to let him know he is supported by others, including servicemen and women.
The petition currently has over 9,000 signatures.  I signed [...]

Not-So-Worthy Quote: Some Asshole Guy I Know

Posted by: BookGirl on: June 29, 2008

“After you blow me.”

– This was a guy’s response after I outwitted him.  Of course, he’s voting for McCain. And of course the conversation and the friendship ended there. Congratulations, Neocons, you have a monopoly on mysoginists!

Worthy Quote: General Wesley Clark

Posted by: BookGirl on: June 29, 2008

“I don’t think getting in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to become president.”

– Retired military General Wesley Clark on the CBS show “Face The Nation” questioning John McCain’s executive experience. Clark is a former republican turned democrat and is a surrogate for Barack Obama. Full article HERE.

Wolves in Republican Clothing

Posted by: BookGirl on: June 28, 2008

Senators David Vitter and Larry Craig… a study in hypocrisy.

More information, as well as link to the bill HERE.
I just can’t believe these two men would think they have any moral high ground on this subject.

Not-So-Worthy Quote: John McCain Voter

Posted by: BookGirl on: June 28, 2008

“I won’t vote for a colored man. He’ll put too many coloreds in jobs.  Coloreds are O.K.– they’ve done well, good for them, look where they came from. But radical coloreds, no– like that Farrakhan, or that senator from New York, Rangel.  There’d be riots in the streets like in the sixties.”

– A direct quote [...]

Those intelligent politicians pushing the knobs and buttons decided enough time had elapsed between their mudwrestling matches of yestermonth and now.  Hillz and Barry are hitting the road and trying to heal the gashes in the Democratic Party their struggle for supremacy created.
Note their brilliant use of color scheme below.

They kicked off the first of [...]

Congress Passes 21st Century G.I. Bill

Posted by: BookGirl on: June 27, 2008

I am ecstatic to hear that Congress did the right thing and passed the 21st Century GI Bill. The bill, which is bipartisan, offers up more benefits to our troops especially when it comes to college tuition.
«The bill, given final approval Thursday in the Senate, also provides veterans a free college education and extends expiring [...]

Let the good times roll. Watch out, McCain.

Obama Retains More Than Half of Hillary’s Supporters

Posted by: BookGirl on: June 26, 2008

After the Michigan and Florida decision came down, people were thinking that Hillary supporters would deflect in insane numbers to John McCain out of spite.  But according to a new poll conducted by the AP and Yahoo!, turns out cooler heads did prevail.
The poll claims 53% of the former Clinton supporter respondents say they will [...]

Vatican Confirms Pope Is Not Metrosexual

Posted by: BookGirl on: June 26, 2008

Catholics can rest easy, their Pope Benedict XVI DOES NOT wear Prada slippers.  In fact, the Vatican wants to make it perfectly clear he’s a very pious unfashionable dude. Though he still likes his breathable cotton dresses because it’s freakin’ hot in Vatican City.
Full article HERE.  Picture below of the Pope in a snazzy saturno [...]

Worthy Quote: Paul Krugman

Posted by: BookGirl on: June 26, 2008

“Ethanol is a really bad idea. It’s about corn, it’s about Iowa being the first caucus. I like to say ‘If only… if only the first caucuses were in New Jersey, we’d have extravagant subsidies for diners instead of for corn.’”

– Paul Krugman of the New York Times said during an interview on Countdown with [...]

Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Gun Rights

Posted by: BookGirl on: June 26, 2008

In another close ruling of 5-4 (Justice Kennedy is again the swing vote) the Supreme Court ruled Americans can apply the Second Amendment to more than just state militias.  The decision protects people’s right to own guns for hunting and for protection.
