Edwards Endorses Obama

Posted by: BookGirl on: May 14, 2008

Someone is sleeping on the couch tonight.

John Edwards, former vice presidential nominee for the democratic party in 2004, finally endorsed Barack Obama. The Edwards family was just as split as the country on who is right for the nomination. Edwards’ wife, Elizabeth, is rumored to be supporting Clinton because she’s white, female, and over 40 of Hillary’s health care plan.

Edwards’ endorsement comes after the telling but disappointing loss Senator Obama endured in West Virginia. I doubt his support will do much voter wise, but it’s another sign of the party coalescing behind the presumptive nominee. The Huffington Post also reports that the delegates Edwards won (18 in total) could end up going to Obama, leaving him just 25 delegates short of the magic number.

Couple that with a win in Oregon (which is likely) and we have ourselves a nominee, folks. Take THAT racists.
