Another Politician Loves Extramarital Nookie
A republican congressman named Vito J. Fossella got busted for a DUI last week. What was his defense?
Fossella told officers he was on his way to visit his sick illegitimate child and therefore they should let him go on his merry, drunken way.
What a morally upright citizen.
The NYT reports:
«The five-term congressman identified the woman with whom he had the affair as Laura Fay. She is a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel whom he apparently called after he was taken into custody early May 1, saying he was on the way to pick up his sick child. The police said his blood-alcohol level at the time was more than double the legal limit, and he faces a mandatory five days in jail if he is convicted.»
Sources told the New York Times they want Mr. Cheater Pants to serve until January and give up on running for a sixth term. Others think it’s better for him to drop out now, lest he hurt the party.
Personally, I think George W. Bush has singlehandedly ruined the Republicans and a cheating, drunk driving congressman is just a drop in their corrupt bucket. A secret love child is almost boring.
Besides, David Vitter, who openly admitted to using hookers and Larry Craig, who had a gay encounter in a bathroom stall, are both still active Republican politicians. Maybe it was the DUI part that put Fossella over the top?
Either way, I’m never surprised when politicians are exposed for being as imperfect as the people they pretend to lord over. They are no better than us, remember that.
