Hillary’s Latest Gaffe Speaks Volumes

Posted by: BookGirl on: May 8, 2008

Whoops. Did she just blurt out her own elitist misconception by mistake? (Or worse, on purpose?)

During an interview with USA Today she said the following:

“I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on. [As evidence, Clinton cited an Associated Press article]… that found how Sen. Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me.”

Hillary is saying Obama can’t win without the white vote and is assuming he can never get their vote. Not surprisingly, she’s not looking at the numbers right.

She tends to do better than he does with white voters, but he still manages to get 15-30% of their vote in racially divided states. Clinton is doing worse with the black vote, sometimes getting less than 10% in certain states. By her metric that means she can’t win because she can’t get the black vote.

Both candidates have work to do. However, reconciliation between Obama and whites is possible, but Clinton has to destroy African Americans to be the nominee.

You see, the only way Hillary CAN be the nominee is if she takes the election from the first viable black candidate in a superdelegate coup. By doing so, she will no doubt piss off African American voters so badly they will skip out the election. She will lose he democratic party’s most loyal constituents, the ones who have helped Obama defeat her. How could she win the primary without her base? McCain knows he couldn’t win without religious conservatives, that’s why he hasn’t thrown Hagee and Parsley under the bus.

And blacks wouldn’t be her biggest problem, either.

There are also a huge amount of white voters who hate her not because of her skin color, but because of her character. That’s harder to overcome than melanin. The people who almost impeached her husband were white while the black community never wavered in their loyalty to the then first family. I’m sure there are plenty of people in her ethnic category who won’t count themselves among her “broad base”.

She’s being mighty reckless.

Obama would have an easier time surmounting the racial divide than Hillary. All he needs is time to introduce himself. Time he will have more of the sooner Hillary Clinton snaps out of her illogical dillusions.
