G4 Television Network to “Celebrate” 420 Day

Posted by: BookGirl on: April 19, 2008

Pop culturally “420″ is associated with smoking pot. For a full Urban dictionary definition that explains why, click HERE.

This coming April 20th, (4/20) is a stoner holiday of sorts. The television network G4 has decided to make it mainstream and is honoring pot luck day with several hours of stoner related programming, which includes TWO showings of the cinematic masterpiece “Half Baked“.

I wonder what type of network execs G4 has. I mean, this is funny, but ballsy. With an FCC that loves to fine people, the network is taking an interesting cultural stand. Granted, they are on cable, but it’s still interesting they have the courage to stay true to the people who watch their channel in the first place: young stoned video game playing males with low sperm counts.

(Note: I’m not a pot smoker nor do I support smoking pot because I don’t like illegal activity. That said, I’m still undecided as to whether I agree with pot being illegal in the first place. Honestly, drugs like meth, crack, coke, and heroin are more dangerous to Americans and society than pot. Even prescription drugs like Oxycodone, Xanax, and Valium are super addictive and destructive.

I hate smoking in general, including nicotine cigarettes, so I would never say it’s ok to smoke pot on a regular basis, but I don’t think pot smokers belong in jail.)
