McCain Admits He’s Anti-Torture On Hardball

Posted by: BookGirl on: April 15, 2008

McCain openly admitted he was against torture on a Hardball with Chris Matthew’s College Tour Special episode.

“For the future of this nation we have to make sure we don’t do things our enemies do,” McCain stated, “We will never torture another person in our custody again.”

Then where the hell was he when the anti-waterboarding bill was being voted on? Oh, that’s right, he voted against banning waterboarding (article HERE). I remember because that was one of my first blog posts (find it HERE).

I guess his definition of what constitutes torture is different than what I think torture is.

Therefore, nice statement, McCain, but I’m still not voting for you.

McCain’s other noteworthy statement this week is his justification for not advocating a healthcare coverage mandate for every American, which is what Hillary Clinton advocates. McCain said “I believes everyone should have access to a college education, but I’m not going to require people to go to college.” Hmmm. I’d have to regard health care as a basic human right, but it appears McCain thinks applying for health-care coverage is like taking the SATs.
