Rod Parsley Claims Planned Parenthood Sponsors “Black Genocide”

I was cleaning up links in my blog and realized my post “Rod Parsley, Right Wing Teddy Bear” has a video that is no longer available.

I was trying to find a replacement for it, but I came across a video I feel should be showcased on its own.

The following is video of Rod Parsley, an open supporter of John McCain, making very dangerous accusations against Planned Parenthood that I feel could foster domestic terrorism.

He’s claiming Planned Parenthood is being funded by the government for legalized genocide.

I did some research on Margaret Sanger, something people who “trust” Parsley’s integrity wouldn’t do.

The founder of Planned Parenthood was raised Catholic. Her mother had eleven children and died because of cervical cancer and tuberculosis. That led Sanger to crusade for the rights of women over their own bodies.

She was a racist, but she was born in 1879, so I’m sure that was very common. She was also a believer in negative eugenics, which is selective breeding among the “better” members of society.

We can conclude Sanger was bigoted and coldly scientific, but did she advocate for mass genocide as Parsley suggests?

The answer is yes and no. Though she did want a eugenics department in the government, it never happened. Her main goal, more than anything, was to guarantee women the exclusive right to their reproductive organs. She wanted women to control when they would have children. She also wanted women to practice eugenics, but of their own free will.

The quote below offers some explanation:

«”We maintain that a woman possessing an adequate knowledge of her reproductive functions is the best judge of the time and conditions under which her child should be brought into the world. We further maintain that it is her right, regardless of all other considerations, to determine whether she shall bear children or not, and how many children she shall bear if she chooses to become a mother… Only upon a free, self-determining motherhood can rest any unshakable structure of racial betterment.”»

I cringe at the “racial betterment” part.

Sanger wasn’t exactly a tolerant broad, but she didn’t sign some contract with the government to slowly get rid of the African American race.

The preacher has no real evidence there is any government sponsored genocide going on except the bigotry of a woman who was born more than a century ago, around the time the telephone, light bulb, and the phonograph (Thomas Edison’s version of the ipod) were invented.

He is spreading half truths and hate in order to guilt people into his political agendas.

The government isn’t forcing these women into anything. However, politicians would be making decisions about women’s reproductive systems if the Supreme Court overturns Roe vs. Wade as conservatives like Parsley would have it.

Conclusion: Women deserve to make their own choices. We shouldn’t have to pay for the shortcomings of Margaret Sanger or the high and mighty manipulations of right wing preachers like Parsley.
