Bill Clinton and Reverend Wright Picture Emerges

Posted by: BookGirl on: March 20, 2008

As with the “slumlord” Tony Rezko, another Obama supporter-turned-political-skewer has had a photograph surface that connects him to the Clintons.

Yup. That’s YouTube favorite, Reverend Jeremiah Wright with Bill. The picture was taken in 1998, at the White House breakfast where President Clinton “tearfully” admitted he had “sinned”by committing adultery with an intern.

The Times claims when they e-mailed Howard Wolfson (one of the top people in the campaign) for a response he said, and I quote:

“Urgent indeed- a picture- oooooooo.”

What a classy guy. He sounds like a twelve year old.

It’s not surprising their defense is the same as when a picture surfaced with Rezko. They claim they take many pictures with many people and can’t remember them all.

They need to be very careful when casting stones. The people they are condemning Obama for having relationships with have been people that have been used by the Clintons for their own political agendas.

I don’t know what’s worse, that Obama has had close relationships with the two men or that the Clintons continuously align themselves with people they barely know to further their political ambitions.

UPDATE:

The Huffington Post reports both the Clinton and Obama campaigns have issued statements on the photo.

Clinton Camp:

«”Less than 48 hours after calling for a high-minded conversation on race, according to the New York Times the Obama campaign is peddling photos of an occasion when President Clinton shook hands with Reverend Wright. To be clear, President Clinton took tens of thousands of photos during his eight years as president.”»

Obama Camp:

«”After their top surrogates pushed this story line and Senator Clinton’s campaign outlined this as a central strategy in her plan to overturn the will of Democratic voters, I can see why they wouldn’t want such a photo out there that shows the respect even President Clinton has for Reverend Wright.” »

BURN.

First of all, Wright was not the Clintons’ minister. The media may be making too much of all this business about Wright, but why is that everything about Obama has to be turned into a jab at Clinton? Do you honestly believe they remember every single person they were ever photographed with? Does Obama? It’s impossible. But it’s also a So What. Who cares?

I did not care much about this Rev. Wright thing at all until I learned that Obama has in his book referred to a white person as a “cracker” and that he said on a radio program that his grandmother was a “typical white person,” which does suggest he did imbibe something of that preaching, and not just the message of hope. None of us is perfect, so why is it that we are always casting stones?

I understand you are frustrated with the back and forth, but the point I was trying to make is that Reverend Wright was obviously respected enough to be invited to the White House personally by the Clintons during a time where they needed religious leaders to vouch for them.

There are plenty of religious leaders in this country, they didn’t all get invited. Reverend Wright had a position with other liberals, but like other surrogates, his every behavior is being analyzed and speculated and now it’s political suicide to align with him.

I don’t know about the “cracker” comment, I haven’t read that myself so I can’t comment, but as far as the “typical white person” faux-pas goes, I can understand why that angered you. To me all that shows is that Obama has some imperfect racial perceptions too. We all do. I’m sure I’ve been guilty of saying things that are off color, pardon the pun.

The good thing about this is that we are challenging each other and talking about a subject in more detail than ever. This is a conversation some people think is politically incorrect and shouldn’t happen, but I think it’s healthy to confront our prejudices.

Thanks for reading and thanks for your post!

if rev.wright was good enought for clinton why isnt he good enought for BARACK!
