Colombian mega-star Juanes held a free outdoor concert today along the Venezuelan-Colombian border in an effort to unite a population divided by politics. The concert, which was attended by thousands of people, was called “Paz Sin Fronteras” or “Peace Without Borders”.

So much better than hearing about another celebrity hooker scandal, right?

The crowd included people from all over Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador, the three nations that were recently embroiled in an almost war . The stand-off had taken place after Colombia crossed the Ecuadorian border to attack FARC, a terrorist militia.

Luckily, after a few alarming days, peace was restored (for the time being).

Juanes’ bold move shows the arts can transcend political strife.
