Racial Ideologies Clash Over Building Contract

Posted by: BookGirl on: March 10, 2008

HERE is a link to an amazing story about a black civil rights activist and his white supremacist tenant.

No, this is not a Fox sitcom airing this fall. It’s the real thing. John Howard, a white man and KKK supporter, operates a store named “The Redneck Shop” in Laurens, South Carolina. [...]

Full Disclosure

Took a random test (I wouldn’t recommend it, but I liked the badge) and I was declared a Libertarian. I am a registered independent voter, but tend to align with libertarian values, especially on social issues.  I’ve taken other (better) quizzes that have given me similar results. If you are curious to know where you [...]

Governor Spitzer Joins Paltry Ranks

Posted by: BookGirl on: March 10, 2008

I had no clue who Governor Spitzer (“Client 9″) was until today, but apparently he was figuring to be a key political figure. He was known for taking a hard-edge on ethical wrong doings, but I guess he’s gotten caught up in his own little dilemma.

Hillary Clinton Rakes In Political “D’oh”!

Apparently Hillary not only mocks your hopes and dreams, but she ruins your credit too!

Obama Not Running for Veep, Hillary Runs on False Hope

Posted by: BookGirl on: March 10, 2008

Obama finally took some serious time during one of his stump speeches (enough for an 8 minute soundbite) to discuss the Clinton Campaign induced chatter about him possibly being VP the upcoming ticket.
He adamantly refused the possibility and gave no indication he would ever accept being Clinton’s number two. Great article and soundbite here.

Show Me The Money!

Two members of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Carl Levin (a democrat) and John Warner (a republican) sent letters to the American bureaucracy in charge of Iraqi finances, asking them why Iraqi oil revenue money hasn’t been invested in the reconstruction of the country.

Everything You Ever Needed To Know About Rezko

Posted by: BookGirl on: March 10, 2008

The Chicago Tribune is covering the Tony Rezko Trial closely. As you may know, Rezko has been connected to Barack Obama in the past. He has been revealed to have contributed to the Clintons and the DNC. He also sponsored a Bush fundraiser in 2003. You can visit the Tribune’s Rezko [...]

When Conventional Wisdom is Wrong…

Posted by: BookGirl on: March 10, 2008

Frankly, if this article is true, I am embarrassed but not entirely surprised.
In an article on the Washington Post’s website entitled “Petroleum Feeds Patriarchy” the argument is made that oil rich Islamic nations are more likely to have gender biased laws against women than Islamic nations who do not have an oil based economy.

Vice President Obama?

Posted by: BookGirl on: March 10, 2008

I think the following quote from former Senator Tom Daschle basically sums up “The Audacity of Clinton.”

“It’s really a rare occurrence, maybe the first time in history, that the person who’s running No. 2 would offer the person who’s running No. 1 the No. 2 position.”
