South Carolina’s Governor Says “Peace Out, Bitches!”

Posted by: BookGirl on: June 22, 2009

It must be tough living in the Governor’s mansion during a recession.

Proving that in South Carolina, backwoods coon hunting usually cures all ills, the state’s top leader, Mark Sanford, “disappeared” after a stressful few days.

No one knew where he went. Not even his wife!

Obama Signs Law on Kids and Tobacco

Posted by: BookGirl on: June 22, 2009

Barack Obama signed a new law which tries to limit the reach tobacco companies have when advertising to children.

(How awesome was Joe Biden’s hot pink tie? Love it.)

The law bans tobacco companies from advertising within 1000 from schools and playground and curves their power to tempt children with “appealing flavors.”

Obama said he hopes the bipartisan bill will help save billions of dollars in healthcare and will reduce the number of children that get hooked on tobacco products.

So, has he quit smoking yet? The answer is no.

C’mon Obama … do it for the kids!

Neda, Iran, and John McCain

Posted by: BookGirl on: June 22, 2009

John McCain stood before his peers to discuss the events in Tehran and the death of a young Iranian woman named “Neda.”

Neda Soltan was shot and killed during a protest in the streets of Tehran. Viral videos of her bloody death have spread all over the internet.

Neda Soltan after she was gunned down on a public street.

Neda Soltan after she was gunned down on a public street.

Her name has become the newest rally cry for the protesters. In the video, John McCain uses Neda’s death as a reason for the United States to take a firmer stance against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

But before we start getting wrapped up in the emotion of the situation, what about the facts?

It’s been a while…

Posted by: liberty53000 on: June 11, 2009

So I haven’t posted for a while, and honestly politics are depressing. But I’m leaving to the army soon and my routine has me quite bored, and I just read an article and I wanted to write about it.

Politics boring him....

Politics boring him....

Pres. Obama visited the Prime Minister of England and, as is custom, they exchanged gifts. Prime Minister Brown, gave obama a pen made from the timber ofon of the last boats used to abolish the slave trade. Pres. Obama Return a bust of Churchill borrowed by a predecessor, and gives him a stack of DVDs that don’t even work in European DVD players!

So their are two options of why he did this. Either the president is an idiot, and I think he isn’t. Or he is personally being a dick. Which I think he is. Quite depressing that thats the kind of man so much of America admires…

Stimulate this!

Posted by: liberty53000 on: February 18, 2009

The Stimulus package already has Economist clutching their stomachs and heading for the johns. Trust me on this, my dad’s one of them. In what maybe a contestant for the worse economic travesty since the great depression, I find myself loosing the will to fight people anymore. This may ruin our free market economy. Oh well, how’s the quote go? “Those who believe, need no proof, and for those who don’t believe there is no proof.” Something like that.

Speaking of sayings, here are a couple of my favorites from protesters of the bill.

1. Atlas will Shrug

2. Stimulate business not government

3. I don’t want to pay for the “Swindle us Package.”

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Posts

Worthy Quote: President Barack H. Obama

“However long we are keepers of the public trust we should never forget that we are here as public servants and public service is a privilege. It’s not about advantaging yourself. It’s not about advancing your friends or your corporate clients. It’s not about advancing an ideological agenda or the special interests of any organization. Public service is, simply and absolutely, about advancing the interests of Americans.”

Biden Makes Joke About Justice Roberts

Posted by: BookGirl on: January 22, 2009

Vice President Joe Biden had to swear in the Administration’s senior staff today, only he didn’t know the words.

Instead of just asking for the oath script and calling it a day, he made a snide remark about Chief Justice Roberts that evidently left President Obama seeing red.

Watch our new president’s reaction to Biden’s jab.

During the inauguration, Roberts recited the oath incorrectly and Obama had to say it again in private “out of an abundance of caution,” according to aides.

Way to fuck up history, Roberts.

Anywhoo, I hope there are more moments like these between our polite and sensitive president and our big mouthed veep.  It makes for good T.V.

“Everybody wants this president to succeed. It’s not in the interests of Americans or of the United States for this presidency to be a failure.”

44th President, Barack Obama

The 44th President, Barack Obama

-Mark Steyn on his website, after reflecting on the long road Obama took to get here. No one likes a sore loser, so I’ll follow his example. Congratulations and good luck! May our amazing country flourish under your watch.

Hilary waits one more day

Posted by: liberty53000 on: January 20, 2009

Today, after being sworn into office, PRESIDENT Obama sat to do the traditional signing. The papers he’s signing are pretty much making the choices for his cabinet official. Hillary Clinton’s position was not signed yet. It has been postponed by Texas Senator John Cornyn. It will not happen today.

Oh she will get back into the whitehouse!

Oh she will get back into the whitehouse!

She’ll most likely get in there, although I think that the reasons to investigate are sound.

Barack Hussein Obama makes his first presidential mistake as he swears into office. A little jumble with the words, the Supreme Court Justice decided to not take notes. Well, actually he wasn’t president yet…

A New Way to Meet People

Posted by: liberty53000 on: January 20, 2009

There is a nation wide group called Events and Adventures. They organize all kinds of fun filled activities for single professional adults. Its no joke, there’s even a screening process. I think it’s great. It takes the creepiness out of meeting people online. Plus, you can rest assured that the people you are meeting are law abiding, fun loving people just like you! I signed up and I look forward to writing more about my experience as time goes on.

Next weekend, Flag football!

Lets get on with the mingling!!

Oh Obama…

Posted by: liberty53000 on: January 19, 2009

Oh so here we come on inauguration day. A day I was hoping would never come. It’s not that I don’t want change, because God knows I do, but a day that I fear is going to lead to a worship of an unworthy hero. I know I’m Cuban and we hold on very dearly to the stories of our elders, but do we need be remind of the blind worship of a man who offered change but led only to ruin?

I’m all for constructive criticism and cutting ones losses, but do we need follow a man blindly who says he has traveled all 57 states?

Shall we deface the flag in a way that opposes our own flag code?

Should we worship he who has done nothing?

Obama the second coming of What?

Obama the second coming of What?

Look, I can admire Obama for his courageous efforts and his charisma and his great ability to pull people together. I can do this in the way that I think everyone should admire Sarah Palin for her short comings to becoming the the VP candidate and governor that changed a lot. Oh no, Palins an idiot, we can’t acknowledge her achievements. What was I thinking?

Diane von Furstenburg’s Spring Collection Flows

Posted by: BookGirl on: January 7, 2009

I love Diane von Furstenburg. Her Spring 2009 collection is below.

She uses flowy materials in bohemian cuts that remind me of meadows, hills, and tambourines. Spring to her is what it is to me: a time to pick wildflowers and look ultra feminine while remaining comfort and glamorous.

I approve.

Step aside Superman and X-Men. Take your seat Spidey. Kids got someone new to look up to. That’s right! Do what you’re told if you want to be like Barack Hussein Obama (Is the middle name OK to use now?)

SuperBama

SuperBama

The Washington post has reported that Barack serves as a role model for kids.

You could call it Obama discipline or Obama etiquette, and it goes something like this:

Get up! Do you think Obama would have slept late and not made it to school on time?

Why don’t you guys share? Don’t you think Obama would want you to share?

How much did you read? Obama would have finished the book by now.

Do you think Obama would sneak cigarettes? (Oops.)
